Sculpture Certificate of Achievement

The Sculpture Certificate of Achievement is being added to offer our students an intense foundation of study and practice in sculpture, including technical strategies, manipulation of materials, and theoretical and conceptual thinking development. Students can utilize these foundational studies to define their pathway, whether it is professional/career development or personal enrichment. Having an additional Certificate pathway in Sculpture could boost department enrollment, increase student retention and attract lifelong learners.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:- Demonstrate a technical facility to safely use and manipulate a wide variety of sculpture
materials, tools, and equipment and a thorough understanding of historical and contemporary
sculptural processes. - Proficiently propose designs that communicate the chosen content of the artist and calculate
the material requirements necessary to implement these designs. - Develop an understanding of Sculpture's overlap with, and integration within, other art and
craft disciplines, and an ability to discuss and critically evaluate their Sculpture and the sculpture
of other artists. - Develop an ability to assess three-dimensional artwork using the elements and principles of
design. - Intermediate level competency in additive, subtractive, and plastic methods of producing
