Music Education Associate in Arts
This degree program offers lower division preparation for students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music education and a California teaching credential in music. The primary emphasis is to prepare students for transfer to four-year music education programs.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:- Demonstrate musical literacy and analytical skills by interpreting and analyzing musical works, including their harmonic, stylistic, and structural elements within cultural and historical contexts.
- Apply musicianship and performance skills through vocal, instrumental, and ensemble participation that reflects technical proficiency, stylistic understanding, and collaborative artistry.
- Integrate pedagogical and technological competencies to support effective music instruction, including the use of digital tools for notation, recording, and music education.
- Articulate the professional roles and responsibilities of music educators and apply foundational teaching principles appropriate for secondary or community-based learning environments.
